The civilian space sector is devoted to the exploration and discovery of the universe for scientific research, satellite navigation (GPS), and Earth observation.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

HEF Photonics, which specializes in <\/span>custom thin-film deposition for the space industry<\/span><\/b>, helped design the seismometer on the <\/span>InSight probe sent to Mars<\/span><\/b> in 2018 by implementing<\/span> gold deposition on the probe\u2019s mechanical and ceramic parts<\/span><\/b>. We have ensured smooth operation and device reliability in the extreme <\/span>conditions of the Martian environment<\/span><\/b>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition, HEF has produced <\/span>telescope<\/span><\/b> mirrors and participated in the <\/span>development of the <\/span><\/b>laser<\/span><\/b> head for the famous Perseverance Mars Rover, <\/span><\/b>which<\/span> fires short laser pulses at Martian rocks to determine their chemical composition (spectroscopy).<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

More recently, we have been supplying optical components to be integrated into satellites of the future <\/span>Japetus<\/span><\/b> constellation, whose mission is to observe Earth.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We have developed a specific industrial tool to offer optical and metallic treatments. <\/span>Photolithography<\/span> phases can be combined with these treatments to produce localized depositions.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n <\/div>\n
