The road transport sector must also transform itself to meet environmental and climate challenges. HEF’s technologies, including surface technology for components, enable this industry to respond today to a range of issues, such as reducing particulate emissions from braking systems, and also position itself to meet the challenges of tomorrow, thanks in particular to hydrogen technologies.
Thanks to our experience with PVD technology, HEF develops unique and resistant carbon coatings for metal bipolar plates, one of the main components of proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFC). Bipolar plates are essential components of fuel cells. Their role is to provide structural support, distribute flows, and guarantee electrical conductivity.
Metal bipolar plates are preferred over their graphite counterparts because they make systems lighter and more compact. CERTESS ELEC FC and CERTESS ELEC FC + are patented by HEF.
CLIN™ technologies are used in the combustion engines of heavy goods vehicles to improve the durability and tribological properties of various components such as:
- valves;
- rocker arms and their shafts; or even
- piston liners.
Our CLIN™ technologies are also used on:
- braking systems to improve resistance to wear and fatigue, as with slack adjusters; and;
- suspension systems where they can replace hard chrome on shock absorber rods.
