HEF has been developing and innovating in the area of PVD-PECVD and PVD technology for over 50 years.
This technology is used in all types of industries: mobility, construction, medical, defense & space, decarbonized energy, etc. Physical vapor deposition and plasma-assisted chemical vapor deposition (PVD and PECVD) are eco-friendly surface treatment technologies that allow thin layer deposition under vacuum. They enable coatings with thicknesses ranging from a few nanometers to a few tens of microns and hardness ranging from 1000 to 5000 Hv.

Thanks to its mastery of the process, HEF has developed a series of coatings that cover a very wide range of thin layer applications:
– Reducing friction and wear
– Increasing service life for mechanical parts
– Protecting aluminum alloys against corrosion
– Protecting against erosion
– Functionalizing surfaces: optical applications, decorative applications, electromagnetic shielding on polymers
Controlled vertical integration
HEF is special in that it develops pursuant to a vertical integration model. We design our materials and processes in our research center, manufacture our equipment and machines in our workshops, and produce our consumables.
Our customers benefit from the adaptability, responsiveness, and competitiveness of this model.
A closer look at our vacuum deposition process
This process is implemented in a vacuum chamber where a plasma is produced.HEF primarily uses 3 methods for generating its plasmas and producing layers of superb quality:
1 – PEMS™: PEMS™ makes it possible to produce extremely dense layers for tribological use. In particular, HEF uses this process to produce its hard or extra-hard layers with a low coefficient of friction. Moreover, PEMS™ technology makes it possible to adjust the hardness, density, and resistance of the depositions to meet specific application requirements.
2 – CAM™: At the cutting edge of vacuum technology, CAM™ technology is a real advancement that enables depositions of hard coatings with an extremely low coefficient of friction at an extremely low temperature.
3 – M-ARC™: This method is a further development of the conventional arc evaporation technique. It considerably reduces droplets usually associated with these types of coatings.
