Superball project: Creating a French solder ball industry
Superballs are a new market opportunity for HEF, the only company in Europe and in France that has this expertise.
Superballs enable higher quality for everyday devices including computers and cell phones, as well as position sensors and accelerometers, by doubling their service life.
With their innovative design, Superballs offer increased resistance to mechanical stress, thus reducing the risk of premature failure.
This €800,000 innovation was the result of a joint project involving the IREIS R&D center, Thales, Nicomatic, and the Georges Friedel Laboratory at the École des Mines de Saint-Étienne. This project won the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region’s R&D Booster call for projects, in recognition of the project’s innovative nature and its potential for stimulating research and development in the region.
